Rubik's Cube Simulator
A virtual cube you can turn with your mouse, finger, or keyboard - no cube needed.
How to play
- Turn a layer: press on any sticker and drag the way you want it to move. On a phone, swipe across a sticker.
- Look around: drag the empty space around the cube to rotate your view. Scroll or pinch to zoom.
- Keyboard: press U D L R F B to turn a face clockwise, and hold Shift for counter-clockwise. M E S turn the middle slices on the 3x3, and X Y Z rotate the whole cube.
- Timed solve: press Scramble. The timer starts on your first turn and stops by itself when the cube is solved.
The cube is held white on top and green in front - the same way official scrambles are applied - so you can scramble it here, copy the scramble to your real cube, and compare. Not sure what the letters mean? Read the notation guide, try the algorithms from the OLL and PLL pages, or follow the beginner method step by step. Stuck? The solver can show you the moves.
Simulator FAQ
How do I turn the virtual cube?
Press on a sticker and drag in the direction you want that layer to turn. Dragging on the empty space around the cube rotates your view instead. You can also use the keyboard (U, D, L, R, F, B, with Shift for counter-clockwise) or the move buttons.
Does the simulator work on phones?
Yes. Swipe across a sticker with your finger to turn that layer, or tap the move buttons below the cube.
How does the solve timer work?
Press Scramble. The timer starts on your first turn and stops automatically as soon as the cube is solved, showing your time and move count. Whole-cube rotations (x, y, z) don't count as moves. For timing solves on a real cube, use the practice timer.
